SUB89 in Reading is set to host the legendary band The Beat, featuring Ranking Jnr, the son of the late Ranking Roger.
one of the key bands of the UK ska revival of the late ’70s and early ’80s, they had a balance of pop melodies and taut rhythms that won them a substantial cult following in the United States.
The Beat’s debut single, Tears of a Clown b/w Ranking Full Stop, made the UK Top Ten, thanks to their blend of personal and political lyrics.
Ranking Jnr is carrying on his father’s legacy with the band.
The event on Friday, April 14, is at 7.30pm and is open to ages 14 and up, but under 16s must be accompanied by an adult. Tickets cost £24.65, and the venue is on Friar Street in Reading.
