Reading FC legend Ian Harte has labelled Dai Yongge’s seven-year spell as a ‘disaster’ as the club closes in on starting a new chapter.
The club announced on Monday that it had signed exclusivity with a new party and is hoping to conclude a deal quickly.
Speaking with Betway Insider, Harte reacted to Reading’s exclusivity agreement, explained his delight for Noel Hunt and gave his thoughts on the league run-in.
He said: “It’s been a bit of a disaster with the previous owner (Dai Yongge).
“Obviously I’m delighted for Noel Hunt getting the opportunity but it’s going to take time to turn things around. It’s an amazing club, I loved my time there and I think this year is going to be a transition year now.”
Harte won promotion to the Premier with the Royals alongside Noel Hunt, now first-team manager, in the 2011/12 campaign under the management of Brian McDermott.
He continued: “You’re looking at the top and Birmingham are probably going to win the league. It’s probably going to come down to one of the four teams.
“Wycombe are ahead at the moment but Wrexham are doing well, Huddersfield are pushing behind and with Leyton Orient as well you’ve got some good teams.
“They all play some very exciting football as well. It should be quite an exciting run-in.
“Again, I’m delighted for Noel and I wish Reading all the best.”
