THE SUN’S smile was almost as big as that on the youngsters attending this year’s Wokingham Town Council family fun day.
The event was held on Saturday, May 25, in Langborough Recreation Ground and organisers felt that the weather gave the turn-out a massive boost.
A little bit of sunshine meant that there were large queues all day as people flocked to the field for a chance to enjoy games, rides and magic.
Attractions also included face painting, a chance to meet farm animals and a special undercover area for toddlers to play with toys.
For those that needed cooling down, an ice cream van did a roaring trade, while the Scouts organised a refreshment tent, serving up watermelon as well as its traditional barbecue.
An estimated 1,000 people turned out for the free event.
Cllr Sally Gurney, chair of the Arts and Culture Committee for Wokingham Town Council, said: “It was such an enjoyable day and the sun shone for us too! We think this was our busiest Fun Day yet and hope that everyone had a lovely time and enjoyed all the activities from face painting to farm animals and, of course, the barbecue.
“The Fun Day is a free event put on by the Town Council each year, and hope that many of you will join us for the International Street Concert in Broad Street this Saturday which is another one of our free, family friendly events in the town.”
