MEMBERS of a networking group for business, charities and local government will hear from two experts about climate change and the switch to electric vehicles.
Wokingham Positive Difference (WPD) attendees will hear from University of Reading Professor of Ocean and Earth Observation Chris Merchant.
He will highlight the UK’s policy to switch from petrol and diesel vehicles to electric, and explain why this is needed in the context of Net Zero and recent climate events.
He will then interview Clare Sharp from the Berkshire Local Enterprise Partnership, project manager of a Local Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (LEVI) project across Berkshire.
The discussion: Climate Insights to Electric Futures, will ask: What is LEVI and how is it helping Wokingham make the switch? Why do Electric vehicles (EVs) benefit people and the planet? And how is EV infrastructure progressing in this area?
With the effects, and costs, of increased greenhouse gas emissions becoming ever more obvious, it is essential to act quickly to stabilise the climate and ensure a safe future for generations ahead, say this month’s keynote speakers.
The event includes open networking, a buffet breakfast, and news updates from the team, local businesses, government, and community groups in addition to the keynote session.
WPD meets monthly.
Their next event will take place at Wokingham Town Hall, on Friday, February 21, from 8am until 9.30am.
Places, which must be booked, cost £25 (breakfast included).
