A GREEN fingered group in Finchampstead will be hearing about the history of bulbs at their next meeting.
California Gardeners Club members will be able to enjoy a talk from invited speaker Cherrill Sands who will explain the history of tulips.
Cherrill will give her audience a chance to learn about the history of the flower from its discovery in the Ottoman Empire, through 17th century tulip fever in the Netherlands, and finally to its development into the spring bulb known and loved in gardens today.
The horticultural club meets on the first Monday of each month, at California Ratepayers Hall, Finchampstead to hear from growing enthusiasts on a variety of gardening topics.
The group describes itself as ‘friendly, lively, and open to all’.
Their next event takes place on Monday, August 5.
Doors open at 7.30pm for an 8pm start.
Entry is free to members, or £2 for visitors.
