Twyford Drama have won an award for their outstanding panto in a contest judged across Greater London and many counties.
The Treasure Island panto’s many corny jokes helped earn it the National Operatic and Dramatic Association’s regional It’s Behind You award.
Peter and Beth Reynolds directed the panto performed at Loddon Hall, Twyford in January. In 2019 the group won the same award for their Cinderella panto.
The London Region includes Greater London, Oxfordshire, Hertfordshire, Berkshire and parts of Kent, Essex and Sussex.
Cate Naylor of NODA who judged Treasure Island said: “This was an enjoyable pantomime full of corny jokes, and a funny messy scene. The cast worked very well together and there were some very strong performances.”
Peter King’s performance was so good he won the award for the best panto actor in Reading area.
Gavin Robinson, who directed Cinderella in 2019 said : “As a small drama group up against dozens of societies across the Greater London area, we are more than thrilled to have won this award for the second time.
“Peter and Beth Reynolds put together a unique but traditional show full piratical action and catchy songs. The cast and their audiences really enjoyed themselves.
“We hope local people will come and be a part of our 2025 pantomime which will start rehearsals in October.”
