Twyford marked Remembrance Sunday with moving parallel wreath laying ceremonies in its own village and also at its twin town in northern France.
Parish council chairman Martin Alder and Twyford Twinning Association chair Hazel Evans travelled to Cuincy to lay a wreath at Douai British Cemetery.
Meanwhile, back across the Channel, the council’s vice chairman John Bowley laid a wreath at Twyford’s war memorial.

The event started with its poignant parade of many members and supporters of its Scouting and Guiding movements marching from Loddon Hall Road, led by Maidenhead Concert Band.
In the middle of the village, they were joined by parish councillors who then led them to the war memorial at St Mary’s Church in Station Road.

Among the wreaths here was one laid by Emma Walton on behalf of Second World War veteran Alan Mead, 97, of the Bridge House of Twyford home. Mr Mead attended the church service afterwards.
United Reformed Church minister the Revd Gordon Connell led a short service at the war memorial, along with Twyford and Ruscombe CofE associate priest the Revd Helen Charlton and the Revd Michael Jackson from St Thomas More RC Church, Twyford.
About 260 people attended the church service afterwards. The last post was played by Dr Mike Davies and Wokingham Borough Council leader Cllr Stephen Conway gave a Bible reading.
St Mary’s churchwarden Lucy Bowley said: “As always it was wonderful to have the community coming together to remember.”

Twyford Twinning Association members enjoyed the weekend with their Cuincy hosts. Social events and music included Twyford’s High Voltage Singers and Cuincy’s Harmonie choir.
