Me2 Club is a local charity that supports children with additional needs and disabilities in the Wokingham and Reading Boroughs attend mainstream activities including uniform groups, sports clubs and drama groups.
We do this by matching them with a one-to-one volunteer who supports them at the activity.
By building a relationship with one of our young people our volunteers help them overcome barriers and be included. Each volunteer is matched with a child to support at an activity and you will attend the same activity on the same time and day each week. Most of the activities our children attend run term-time only.
We will work with you to match you with a child on a day and at a location that works for you.
If you are 16 or older have one or two hours a week to give and have the desire to make a difference to a child’s life visit our website and fill in our application form today.
A full day of training is provided before you start the role and you will have an allocated Coordinator to support you through your time as a volunteer.
The Wokingham and Earley Transport scheme is run from the Wokingham Volunteer Centre and provides transport mainly for medical appointments to hospital, the doctors, dentist and physiotherapy appointments.
We also provide transport for social trips such as shopping, lunch clubs and other social activities to help reduce social isolation.
Drivers will be called on an ad hoc basis and they then help the clients get to and from their desired destination and in most cases, help them to attend their appointment.
The scheme really does make a huge difference to people’s lives.
We are looking for an office volunteer on Monday mornings to take telephone requests from clients for transport to essential medical appointments, shopping and social trips and to enter all the details into an online booking system, to liaise with volunteer drivers to allocate the drives effectively and to update the system whenever necessary regarding any changes to client/drivers situations.
Training will be provided on the booking system (CATTS.)
Time commitment is 9.30am-1pm on Mondays, plus possible other ad hoc cover for holidays and sickness if possible.
Essential skills: Good IT skills, excellent communication and an empathy for elderly or other clients with health problems. Volunteer travel and parking expenses can be claimed. Based at our offices in Wokingham Town Centre. As training is involved, this role is aimed at volunteers who can commit on a long-term, ongoing basis.
At ANDYSMANCLUB, we want to eliminate the stigma surrounding mental health and create a judgment-free, confidential space where men can be open about the storms in their lives.
We aim to achieve this through weekly, free-to-attend peer-to-peer support groups for men aged over 18.
Groups now operate nationwide and are completely volunteer-led, with the vast majority of group facilitators having first interacted with ANDYSMANCLUB when they came through the door as a service user. The role would suit a male, who has experience either personally or through friends or family members of mental health issues.
The role of Facilitator would include: set and clear up space, welcome and encourage new members, support people to share their thoughts and facilitate set questions each week.
Sessions will be weekly on Mondays (excluding bank holidays), 7-9pm at Radstock Lane Community Centre, Earley.
