WITH the December 12 general election looming ever closer, an opportunity to grill the candidates standing in Reading East will take place early next month.
Organised by Churches Together in Reading, and hosted by the group’s chair, Michael Penny, the event will see the candidates asked a range of questions that have been submitted in advance.
Reading East includes parts of Woodley and Earley, but this event is taking place at Wesley Methodist Church in Reading’s Queen’s Road.
It will be held from 6pm on Sunday, December 1.
Refreshments will be served from 6pm, with the question time session starting at 6.30pm.
There will be a meet and mingle session starting at 8pm for 30 minutes, giving the audience a chance to talk with the candidates.
Mr Penny said: “One candidate, who has taken part in the last two hustings I chaired accepted the invitation to this one and said: ‘Of course I want to attend your hustings. It is always the best attended and has been the nicest atmosphere.’”
There are six candidates standing in Reading East, and they have all been invited.
They are:
- Yemi Awolola, Christian Parties Alliance
- Mitch Feierstein, The Brexit Party
- David McElroy, The Green Party
- Craig Morley, Conservatives
- Matt Rodda, Labour
- Imogen Shepherd-DuBey, Lib Dem
The closing date to submit a question is Wednesday, November 27.
