If ever there was a safe seat in Wokingham borough, this is probably it. Council leader John Halsall is looking to defend his majority – although the Lib Dems will be looking to build on its Twyford stronghold.

You will receive or have just received your postal ballot paper or polling card for the Remenham, Wargrave and Ruscombe election for Wokingham Borough Council on Thursday 6th May. I am asking for your support for the next three years.

My family and I have been privileged to live in Remenham for the last 40 years; being here is essential to the appreciation of local issues. Remenham, Wargrave and Ruscombe need a strong voice in faraway Wokingham, as we are easily forgotten and ignored; our concerns are not common with the rest of the Borough.

Graham Howe, your other Borough Councillor, and I always put Remenham, Wargrave and Ruscombe first, and have been and will continue to be focused on:

  • Protecting the Green Belt
  • Maintaining our high Educational standards and ensuring there are enough places
  • Enhancing the quality of life
  • Sympathetic and environmentally friendly development
  • Eliminating or minimising congestion
  • Improving the roads and traffic calming
  • Safeguarding the old, vulnerable and homeless

We are both parish councillors and active within all the schools and local clubs and institutions.

VOTE 2021: Winnersh – LIB DEM HOLD

For 19 years, the Conservative Wokingham Borough Council has balanced the budget, invested for the future, and delivered economic growth and prosperity for all our residents. As a direct result of our leadership, Wokingham Borough is regularly recognised as one of the top ten places to live in the United Kingdom, the healthiest, the lowest level of deprivation, one of the lowest unemployment rates, the UK Silicon Valley and is now becoming the Hollywood of Europe.

While other councils have cut services, we have not; we have innovated, sought additional sources of income to offset government funding cuts and successfully delivered our promises to you, our residents, and to our businesses, charities, and communities.

Unsurprisingly, as Leader of the Council, I am exceptionally proud of all we have achieved for you over the last two decades, particularly the Council’s outstanding performance during the Covid pandemic. But we are not complacent.

We have a vision for the future that we want to deliver for you. The Conservative Promise is our vision for the future. It will take Wokingham Borough into 2030 and beyond.

It is a vision for services for our old age as well as for our younger residents. It is a vision for future investment in our services and in our communities.

We believe that this is the future that you deserve in this Borough. If this is the future that you want, we need you to do something for us, we need you to VOTE CONSERVATIVE AND UNIONIST on May 6th 2021.

Originally from The Netherlands, I came to the UK to study in 1988 at Reading University.

My wife and I spent the next 16 years working overseas, returning to live in Twyford in 2015 with our three children, one of whom currently attends the Piggott School.

In addition to a busy family life, I have a keen interest in local history, genealogy and archaeology and we enjoy exploring the local area on foot.

Locally I am opposed to further housing developments especially on green field land or in flood sensitive catchments.

Natural green, open spaces, such as in Ruscombe, need to be protected for our future generations to enjoy.  Housing developments increase the risk of flooding, especially relevant in the Wargrave area.

My aim, should I be elected, is to represent the communities of Wargrave, Ruscombe and Remenham to protect and enhance their local environment and village amenities.
