Shinfield South is an interesting seat as in 2019, it very heavily swung to an independent who was fighting housing numbers.
The 2016 winner, Charlotte Haitham Taylor, has stood down meaning that whoever wins this seat will enter the council chamber for the first time.

As a mother dedicated to her family, of four children and 12 grandchildren, I passionately support creating the best environment in our villages, especially for the future of children.
I strongly believe that we must have excellent schools, exciting career opportunities, great entertainment, and relaxing recreational activities. I like nothing better than half a Guinness after a long walk with my family and the dog.
We need a renewed focus on supporting what makes life worthwhile and why we love where we live. These include expanding sports and leisure opportunities, more community facilities and making journeys easier.
The Coronavirus will leave an impression on everyone. Communities have shown heartfelt compassion, neighbourliness, and innovative support services during the last year and we need to build on that.
I will focus on improving the experiences for our youth in Shinfield South. They need an outlet for their energy and creativity as well as a route through education and training into the world of work.
I will support the creation of new employment opportunities in Shinfield and close by so that residents can live and work not far from home which will also help reduce congestion.
I hope that you will trust my wisdom and experience as a former Berkshire Magistrate and as a town councillor to work for the best of everyone from across all the villages in Shinfield South ward.
Chris Johnson, Lib Dems

I am LOCAL – I live in Three Mile Cross.
My priorities are to challenge Conservative plans to build 15,000 houses locally.
I want to see improvements in air quality and want more trees planted in Shinfield.
I enjoy cycling and want to see better cycling routes locally.
I work as a computer software engineer and was formerly in the RAF.
Marcus McDowell, Labour

Marcus grew up in the Borough and has lived locally for his whole adult life. He was motivated to become a Councillor after witnessing the devastating effects on our community of continued Conservative cuts to public services.
March is a Shinfield Parish Councillor and as such is heavily involved in many community projects.
Marcus was involved in the successful campaign against Shinfield quarry and has also campaigned against excessive speeding in Shinfield. He has also led parent campaigns about inadequate Special Educational Needs provision offered by Wokingham Borough Council.
If elected, Marcus will continue to campaign against speeding in Shinfield Parish also to continually improve SEND provision for the whole Borough.
