“We have lost the most amazing person.”
That’s the moving tribute paid to Zelous Smythe by his family.
The 27-year-old from Camberley died in Nine Mile Ride on November 5 last year.
On Friday, July 12, his murderer – Oliver Allerton, 27 and of no fixed abode – was found guilty of murder and Victoria Quinton, 21, of Priestwood, Bracknell, was found guilty of manslaughter after she was acquitted of a charge of murder.
Allerton was jailed for a minimum of 17 years and Quinton for seven.
Following the sentencing, the family of Zelous Smythe issued a tribute via Thames Valley Police.
They said: “We have not just lost a son, a brother, an uncle, a cousin or a friend, we have lost the most amazing person.
“Zelous could walk into a room and light it up without saying a word. He was a fun-loving and generous person with a zest for life.
“He would always help people and made sure that they did not go without. A kind heart that beats no longer.
“We have been robbed of Zelous’s life and are broken as a family. Another young life cut short by another human being.
“The sadness we feel over the death of Zelous will never leave us.
“We pray that everyone thinks about their decision when it comes to picking up a knife as there is a ripple effect that spread through the heart of family and friends.”
