STAFF at a care home based in Lower Earley have welcomed their new manager.
Last month, Wendy Browne Mapasa joined the 80-bed Austen House home, owned by Barchester Healthcare. She oversees a team of nurses, carers, housekeeping and support staff.
She comes to the care home after working in a hospital, overseeing management of children’s services.
“I am delighted to join the team here at Austen House and am enjoying meeting and getting to know our residents,” she said. “I’m looking forward to managing this home and continuing to provide high-quality care.”
And Jo Fitzgerald the regional operations director for Austen House, said she was pleased to welcome Ms Browne Mapasa to the team, saying she would be a big hit with residents.
Part of her work will be managing residents’ routines.
“Our varied life enrichment programme keeps residents active, and provides a daily choice of engaging physical, mental and spiritual activities tailored to residents’ interests and abilities,” she explained.
