WOKINGHAM Town Councillors Andy Croy, Adrian Betteridge, Alwyn Jones, and Town Clerk Katie Hughes hosted an information stall at a busy Wokingham Market Place on Saturday.
They were there to engage with residents about the work of the town council and to share details of its annual events programme.
Leaflets were handed out, passers-by were invited to enjoy some cake, and were also able to take part in a light-hearted vote for their favourite town council event, with a choice of: Lunar New Year, Children’s Fun Day, or Party In The Park.

The event was part of the Town Council’s formal Annual Town Meeting for the local community, with an 11am meeting inside the Town Hall, followed by the stall outside in the sunshine.
“We’re explaining to the public all the things that we do in Wokingham and all the events we either put on ourselves or sponsor financially,” explained Katie Hughes.
“It has been a great way to interact with people, explain what we do, and answer their questions.”
Wokingham Town Council either runs or sponsors various events throughout the year, many of which are free.
These include: Lunar New Year, Mayor’s Sunday, Wokingham Children’s Fun Day, Party in the Park, Armed Forces Day, Theatre in the Park, Heritage Open Day, Wokingham Children’s Book Festival, Town Hall Tabletop Takeover, Remembrance, Armistice Day, and Dressing the Christmas Tree.
With the results of the fun vote now in, Party in the Park was a clear favourite.
Wokingham Town Council’s vision is to embrace the town’s past, celebrate its present and build for its future, by being sustainable, involving everyone, fostering town pride, and enriching the community.
