COFFEE pods and cooking oil can be recycled
Pods can be recycled at re3 recycling centres, and used oil can be put out with residents’ black food waste bins.
Rather than throwing them in the bin, residents are advised to bring their aluminium or plastic coffee pods to dedicated collection points at re3 recycling centres in Reading and Bracknell.
People are asked to put only coffee pods into these containers, and not to include any product packaging or bags (including Podback recycling bags.)
Cooking oil, if placed into blue waste bags can cause spillage incidents.
Instead of putting it out with rubbish, households can pour used oil into a sealed plastic bottle and place this inside their food waste black bin for kerbside collection.
The oil, along with other food waste, is turned into energy to power homes, and fertilisers for crops.
