A TEENAGER is looking forward to a worry-free university experience after being picked for a prestigious sponsorship scheme from global accountants KPMG.
The firm will be supporting Sam Oliver from The Forest School in Winnersh as he reads accountancy at Birmingham University. During his studies, he will receive funding for his accommodation and tuition fees plus a salary.
To achieve it, he obtained A* grades in maths and biology and an A in further maths.
“It means I can concentrate on the academic side,” he said, beaming. “I’m a very happy man.”
The school’s outgoing headteacher, Mary Sandell, said: “We’re really, really delighted – and we’re proud of all of our boys.”
The Forest said that its overall performance has increased year on year.
“We have seen more students secure apprenticeships prior to the examination period and a higher number of unconditional university offers, but this has not distracted them from performing to the best of their ability,” Mrs Sandell added.
“Early indications are that most higher education applicants will secure the university place of their choice.
“Congratulations to all students and staff on their preparation and performance this year in very uncertain educational times.”
