BOROUGH residents had an opportunity to try out e bikes free of charge at the weekend.
Any one who was interested was able to turn up and try as many different models as they wished.
Around 70 people came to the event in Wokingham Borough Council’s (WBC) Shute End car park on Saturday.
A council representative said: “AW Cycles brought along a selection of bikes, all of them electric.
“There were folding bikes, hybrid, mountain, and the much larger ecargo bikes.
“These are useful for businesses to be able to carry goods.”
The event was hosted by WBC’s MyJourneyWokingham, working in conjunction with Wokingham Town Council, and AW Cycles.
“We’ve had lots of positive feedback,” said the WBC representative.
“People really appreciated an opportunity to try the bikes out.
“Some were returning to cycling, some were looking for different options for their daily work commute, and others were wanting to cycle longer distances.
“People were surprised how much easier it is to ride an e bike, and how much further you can go.
“And of course, there’s no petrol, and you’re not sitting in a traffic jam on an e bike.
“It’s a great sustainable option for many.”
