A WOKINGHAM funding group that exists to support local people in need is getting ready to spread festive joy.
Wokingham United Charities’ (WUC) Christmas Cheer 2024! Grant programme is designed to support individuals, families and the elderly who may be in need this Christmas, and who may otherwise go without.
They welcome applications from charities and groups, for grants of up to £2,000 to pay for Christmas gifts, Christmas lunches, and food hampers for the communities they serve.
It may seem a little early for Santa’s helpers to be starting their yuletide preparations, but the group says charities need plenty of time to organise their festive celebrations, and it wants to give them every opportunity to plan ahead.
“Christmas is a time of giving and goodwill,” said Susanna Jennings from WUC.
“It’s when local charities come together to promote their Christmas appeals, and we are fully aware of the intense increased demand for services that provide support to those in need.
“We want to help spread a little Christmas Cheer.
“Our grant giving at Christmas supports our mission of relief to those in need, by supporting local organisations working with families, individuals, and the elderly, who may otherwise go without anything this Christmas.“
With the launch of the group’s new online access process, all Christmas Cheer Grant applications must this year be made online, via the Wokingham United Charities website.
Applications can be made from Tuesday, September 10.
