Environmental Champion of the Year, sponsored by Grundon Waste Management, winner: Alison Chaney
SPONSORED by Grundon Waste Management, Wokingham Community Awards’ Environmental Champion of the Year Award recognises someone whose commitment to their community and environment goes above and beyond.
Alison Chaney is this year’s winner.
Her long-standing commitment to recycling and sustainability has made a real difference in Wokingham.
For many years she has run Terracycle and other local recycling schemes, helping the community reduce waste, recycle more, and protect the environment for the future.
Through her efforts, many many tonnes of recyclable material have been saved from landfill.
She has also inspired, educated, and raised significant funds for local schools, clubs, and good causes, turning recycling into a genuine force for community good.
She said; “I’m really thrilled to receive the award.
“I wasn’t expecting it at all, and it has really made my day.
“I hate the thought of things going to landfill, and when I realised, about 13 years ago, that I could recycle and make money for charities, I got stuck in, and I haven’t stopped.
“I’ll keep going as long as I can.
“People can see what I’m up to on my Facebook page, Ali’s Recycling for the Local Community.”
