WOKINGHAM will see the light … the traffic light.
The executive member for highways, Cllr Paul Fishwick, said the council had been successful in getting a grant for £528,000 to upgrade traffic signal systems.
This will see obsolete technology and unreliable equipment replaced with new signals that it is hoped will improve reliability.
Last year, Reading Borough Council had to wait for months to replace a set of traffic lights on London Road following a road traffic collision. These used old tech, and they couldn’t get the parts.
Cllr Fishwick made the announcement during the council meeting held on Thursday, March 21.
