THIS Wokingham resident isn’t letting lockdown stop his new business venture.
Former management consultant John Ariss recently launched his own oven valeting business, Ovenu Bracknell, to put his management skills to good use.
He decided to take on the challenge after speaking with father and son Ovenu franchisees Adam and Ryan Penniston, who operate businesses in Wokingham and Maidenhead.
“I know Adam and Ryan very well and whenever we meet up, they’re always enthusing about Ovenu and the benefits of being your own boss,” Mr Ariss explained.
“The more I looked into it, the more I was convinced.”
Taking over the franchise from former owner Mark Daniels who retired after 17 years in the role, Mr Ariss hopes his logistics and warehouse experience will help him succeed.
And he said Bracknell provided the perfect opportunity to set up his own franchise.
“The town has experienced significant growth and regeneration in recent years, including a number of new housing developments,” he explained.
Now, he is booking new clients over the coming weeks.
While he says launching a business during lockdown is “a bit daunting”, Rik Hellewell, founder and managing director of Ovenu, said Mr Ariss has “the necessary drive and determination” to succeed.
