A PROTEST is being organised outside a Wokingham car park in reaction to ‘”terrifying” car meets over the last two nights.
Residents have been invited to gather at 2pm outside Carnival Pool Car Park on Saturday, January 22, to show that “enough is enough”.
It is being co-organised by residents and Cllr Maria Gee, Liberal Democrat councillor for Wescott.
On Saturday and Sunday evening, drivers congregated in the multi-storey car park, engines revving and exhausts backfiring.
“Children are terrified because they think the backfiring is gun shots,” Cllr Gee said. “People are scared to go out when the car meets are on, becoming prisoners in their homes. Pets are frozen with fear.”
Cllr Gee said that car meets in the town centre have been an ongoing issue for more than two years.
The protest will call for action from the borough council.
