A Wokingham school has celebrated its outstanding SATs results, after seeing a dramatic turnaround compared to previous years and exceeding the national average.
The results at Floreat Montague Park Primary School were below the national average in 2023 and 2024, but this year’s results show the school outperforming the national trend across reading, writing, maths and combined across all disciplines.
The school has also seen a large increase in pupils’ scores for the multiplication check and phonics, both key areas as pupils progress through primary school.
Two years ago, less than 70% of pupils at the school were achieving the expected standard for phonics – a measure of pupil’s spoken and written fluency. Now over 90% of pupils are achieving this standard.
Combined reading, writing and maths outcomes for Year 6 children have improved by 18% since the previous year.
Spencer Blay, Headteacher at Floreat Montague Park, commented: “We have a fantastic staff team here at the school, and we are delighted with these much improved results as we look towards our 10th anniversary as a school.
“Our amazing pupils have worked extremely hard to achieve these results, whilst also maintaining our incredible caring ethos and pastoral support which we have established.
“I’d like to thank all our pupils and staff, as well as our supportive families and trust GLF Schools, who have helped us make this ambition a reality.”
