Two Wokingham sisters took to the stage last weekend for a performance of the ballet Swan Lake.

Amy Williams, 13, and her sister Holly, 17, performed alongside professional dancers as part of the English Youth Ballet’s production at The New Theatre in Oxford

The dancers were selected from 200 youngsters at competitive auditions in March. They endured more than 60 hours of rehearsals for the three performances.

Proud mum Esther described the dedication that her daughters have made.

She told Wokingham Today: “It’s so lovely they have a passion for dancing.”

The sisters are no strangers to the stage, with last weekend’s performance being the latest in a line of productions.

Janet Lewis MBE, Director of English Youth Ballet, said: “The cast are working hard not only on their ballet technique but on their performance quality that expresses the part they are dancing.”

The English Youth Ballet is in its 25th Anniversary year, and has previously won The Stage Award for special achievement in regional theatre.
