A GROUP of Wokingham public speakers recently held their annual group meal at Bearwood Lakes Golf Club.
An evening of tall tales where speakers competed for prizes, was also handover night for Wokingham Toastmasters’ outgoing chair.
Graeme Hobbs, who has led the group for the past year, and who organised the evening, was warmly thanked for his efforts throughout the year.
Garfield Reece takes over as this year’s Wokingham Toastmaster chair, and will work with his new committee to set the group’s goals and objectives for the next 12 months.
The group meets fortnightly to improve their public speaking skills.
Participants give speeches for fun, within a supportive and encouraging environment.
As well as working on communication, they practise leadership and observation as they give and receive positive feedback.
The Wokingham Speakers Toastmasters group meets at the Bradbury Centre, Peach Place, on the first and the third Tuesday of each month.
Their next meeting is on Tuesday, July 16.
Doors open at 7.15pm, and visitors are welcome.
