THE MODEL of a new piece of public art for Wokingham has been installed inside Carnival Hub, which houses Places Leisure and the library.
The Arc has been designed by sculptor Nicola Anthony whose artworks are commissioned by museums, collections and celebrities globally.
A series of impressive steel arches with Wokingham residents’ words etched into them, it is planned to be sited at the entrance to Carnival Hub, where project leaders Arts4Wokingham say it will change the landscape of Wokingham Borough and become the crown jewel of Wokingham’s regeneration project.
A maquette of The sculpture has been placed at the library entrance, where visitors to the Hub will be able to learn more about it from information displayed on Places Leisure’s rolling screens.

Tim Lloyd and Robin Cops and from Arts4Wokingham are especially grateful to the Wokingham leisure centre general manager Tony Penge for his ongoing support for the project.
Robin said: “Thanks to Places Leisure, everyone can now see what the real thing will look like.
“The reception is the perfect place for it, because the actual Arc will be visible from the cafe windows here.
“Some people have said they find it difficult to imagine what it will look like, so the model, made by Nicola Anthony, will give them a great idea of the finished product.
“And they can find out more information from the screens.
“I can’t wait to see the Arc installed – but we still need to collect a substantial amount to make this a reality.
We’d love to hear from people and businesses who want to add their names to the list of foundation contributors – we’ve had some tremendous sponsorship already.

“Special thanks to Tony, for his help and enthusiasm – the Arc is going to be something we can all be proud of – a truly bespoke piece of art that reflects the town and its people.”
