A WOODLEY woman gardening at her home had a large quantity of jewellery stolen in a ‘shocking’ distraction burglary.
Thames Valley Police said that the incident took place around 1pm on Sunday, June 9.
The victim, who is in her 80s, was approached by a man who told her that her rear fence was broken.
She followed the man to inspect the damage. When they returned to the front of the property he told her that he would put a quote to fix the damage through the front door.
Thames Valley Police said that the victim continued her gardening and when she turned round to check that the man was gone he was with another man in the driveway.
The offenders then walked away in the direction of Woodley town centre.
During the raid, a large quantity of jewellery was taken.
The first offender is described by police as a white man, in his twenties, around 5ft 9ins tall and of slim build. He had short dark brown hair and was wearing a shirt and dark trousers. He also spoke with a local accent.
The second offender is described as a white man, in his forties, around 5ft 5ins tall and of large build. He was wearing a red checkered shirt.
Investigating officer, PC Jay Ellams, based at Loddon Valley police station, said: “This is a shocking incident in which an elderly lady has had her jewellery taken.
“I am appealing for anyone who saw what happened or anyone who has information regarding this incident to please come forward.
