A BOROUGH music group will be performing works inspired by locations from around the world and beyond at their next concert.
Woodley Concert Band’s (WCB) programme, Musical Landscapes, promises to take the audience on a wide ranging tour of the world.
“We’ll take you from London’s Westminster Waltz to the open spaces of the Wild West with the film theme The Big Country,” said Cathy Hughes from the group.
“And the Scottish highlands are beautifully portrayed in the Lochnagar Suite by Nigel Hess.
“Audience members may be surprised to hear that this music has its origins in a children’s book written by King Charles when he was a young Prince of Wales.
“The instantly recognisable and atmospheric film music of Lawrence of Arabia will take listeners straight to the Arabian peninsula.
“And we even have a trip to the moon.”
Other music during the evening will celebrate the majesty of oceans and mighty rivers.
“We’re particularly excited to be playing Vesuvius by Frank Ticheli,” added Cathy.
“It’s an excitine piece that brings to life the power and energy of the volcano alongside everyday life in Pompeii.”
The concert will take place at the Harriet Walter Theatre, Reddam House, Sindlesham, on Saturday, March 21, at 7pm.
Tickets costing £15, £13 for over 65s, and £5 for under 16s, are available to buy online.
Free tickets for people who have never been to a WCB concert before, are also available, but must be booked in advance by phone.
