FARLEY Hill dropped to third in the division after they were defeated by Woodley who came out on top with a four wicket triumph.
Farley Hill were put into bat first and the hosts made a shaky start as they lost their skipper Michael Sherdian for just four runs. But opening partner Ali Jalil held the fort and built a good platform for his side as he knocked 33 runs.
Woodley bowler Aswath Radhakrishnan enjoyed a superb bowling spell as he ripped through the middle order, claiming four consecutive wickets as Farley struggled to add to their total.
Farley somewhat recovered their innings in the tail end as Jarrod Christian hit 14 before Craig Jorey and Babu Mani both scored ten runs to see their side surpass the century mark. Sri Harsha bowled solidly for Woodley as he added two more wickets to take his tally to three to dismiss the final two batsman in the order as Farley ended the first innings with a modest total of 109 from 30.3 overs.
With 110 set to win, Woodley made a similarly disappointing start as their opponents did to their batting as Prasad Kulkarni was run out by Jorey for just four runs. Rohit Ranjan came to the crease and contributed significantly to reaching the total as he top scored for his side with 34 before he was bowled out by Prakash Krishnamurthy.
Krishnamurthy then gave his side hope in the match as he gained two quick wickets, dismissing both batsman after lbw decisions. However, Farley’s sloppy bowling would cost them as 27 extras helped build towards the Woodley total.
Woodley had victory in their sights and with four wickets to spare, they clinched victory as Amol Lotke hit 12 runs as the visitors surpassed the total set by Farley in just 30.1 overs.
The victory sees Woodley move up to fifth place in the division, while Farley Hill remain above them in third.
