WOODLEY UNITED recovered from two goals down to take a point after a second-half brace from Kaylum Barlow.

Deportivo made good use of playing with the wind behind them, moving the ball quickly and being denied twice in the opening three minutes by home keeper Andrew Walker for corner kicks.

However, the visitors did open the scoring in the 13th minute when another corner was headed clear to the edge of the home team’s penalty area where Razy Nadeem struck the ball into Walker’s top right hand corner.

The hosts fell further behind nine minutes later when a low cross into their penalty area from Galicia’s right hand side found the unmarked Mokhtar Bouasri whose drive went into the net of the underside of the cross bar.

With Deportivo positive in possession Woodley escaped going further behind on the half hour when Tahir Carmichaels mishit clearance fell to an opponent who lobbed Walker but the ball went narrowly wide of the keeper’s far post evading an oncoming attacker and the recovering Carmichael.

Woodley’s best chance of half saw a Carmichael free kick go straight into the arms of Manu Lamas in the visitors’ goal.

The first minute of the restart saw a quick Deportivo attack from deep in their half that resulted in Naim Mejdoubi shooting narrowly wide but United gradually came into the game.

First Carmichael saw a freekick be cleared for a corner and two minute later Jordan Goddard shot wide as Woodley showed greater urgency in their play.

However, Walker was required to deny Mejdoubi in the 58th minute followed by Lamas parrying a shot Money Mills-Chandler followed up and hit the woodwork.

United were rewarded in the 65th minute when Ciaran Carolan’s cross from the right was cleared to debutant Kaylum Barlow who calmly slotted the ball into the inside far netting pass the diving Lamas.

Four minutes later, Lamas had to kick the ball clear outside his penalty area from the advancing Carolan as Woodley pushed for the equaliser which came in the seventy third minute.

Pedro Monteiro’s shot from distance was parried by Lamas only for Barlow to react quickest and again score of the far inside netting.

The game became open as both teams looked for the winning goal and Barlow was needed to clear off his own goal line while Walker made a good save for a corner four minutes from full time.

United introduced Max Reid and Jordan Sykes in the dying minutes which tightened the midfield and enabled the hosts see the game to an end with a well earned point.
