A group of young performers from across Wokingham and Finchampstead delivered a sparkling afternoon of festive entertainment as 1, 2 Step Dance Academy held its annual Winter Showcase at The FBC last weekend.
Dancers aged between two and a half and 18 took to the stage for two performances, drawing an enthusiastic audience of families, friends and local supporters. The showcase featured a mix of Christmas music, polished routines and lively seasonal spirit, reflecting the growing confidence and ability of the academy’s pupils.
The event also included a selection of winter stalls hosted by small local businesses, offering festive goods and refreshments that added to the celebratory atmosphere.
Michelle Bolwell, the academy’s founder and director, said she was “immensely proud” of the young dancers, many of whom had only recently joined the school.
“The children have only been preparing for this event for six weeks this term, which is much less time compared to our larger theatre productions,” she said. “For some of the dancers, this was a completely new experience. They all did themselves proud, and it was a delight seeing their confidence grow throughout the afternoon’s two performances.”
For several pupils, the showcase marked their first time performing on stage, while others continued to build on their training as they prepare for future productions. Audience reactions were overwhelmingly positive, with cheers and applause filling the venue.
The academy is now turning its attention to its next major event: a theatre production scheduled for July at The Wilde Theatre.
January trial classes are now open for families interested in enrolling their children in dance or acro sessions ahead of the summer show.
