A DAY of music is coming to The Lexicon in Bracknell next weekend, and organisers are promising something for all ages.
The Summer Proms event will see Bond Square transformed into an al fresco concert hall, with performances from 2pm through to 8pm on Saturday, September 2. Everything is free to attend.
The first act will be the Vocalese Choir, performing pop songs from 2.30pm. At 3.05pm, singer-songwriter AmeyA will perform some of her own songs and well-known hits.
The BARTA Theatre Academy will be on stage from 3.30pm. Comprising students from Wokingham and Bracknell aged from six to 21, they will showcase their dancing, singing and drama talents.
At 4pm, the first Britain’s Got Talent winner Paul Potts will share his love of opera, and feature some of the songs on his eight different albums.
Then, at 4.50pm, the Crystal Gospel Choir will sing, before EBOS Musical Theatre perform songs from the shows.
The Trawlermen will be on stage at 6.05pm. A trio comprising a guitarist, double bassist and a violist, they will perform some traditional music.
The day comes to an end at 7pm with a performance by The Boulevards, a vintage-style rock ‘n’ roll band, performing the biggest and best hits from the 1950s and early 1960s.
Sue Boor, head of marketing at The Lexicon, was looking forward to the day.
“We thought that a toe-tapping Summer Proms would be the perfect conclusion to our fun- filled Yellow Brick Road summer,” she said.
“We are delighted to have secured Paul Potts and lots of different local talents too, and are confident that the line-up will have everyone singing and dancing along.”
