The Wokingham Transport Scheme needs you.
All you need is your own car – there is no cost to you as we reimburse all your expenses.
We are looking for drivers who can provide transport for older people to attend vital medical appointments such as hospitals, local doctors, dentists, opticians, and physiotherapists. Drivers who can help with one-off social trips (such as shopping and visiting friends/family in hospital/care homes etc.) and more regular social trips (such as to a lunch club or activity which may involve dropping them off and picking them up later rather than waiting with them). Time commitment can be very flexible.

You must have a full driving licence and own car. No specialist car insurance is needed.
Unfortunately, we cannot take on any new volunteers aged under 21 or 75 and over due to insurance purposes.
Commitment is ongoing and we ideally need one day minimum per week of your time. The vast majority of our drives are on weekdays and daytime, so your availability would need to align with this. Volunteers would need to be available for a minimum of six months but, ideally, it would be on an ongoing basis.
Berkshire Vision provides practical and friendly support, sport and activities to visually impaired children, adults and their families in Berkshire.
We are looking for Information and Events Volunteers to help run information or fundraising stands in the local community to raise awareness, fundraise and to recruit new volunteers. This could be but is not limited to local fetes or festivals, community events, shopping centres, sports events and eye clinics.
This is an ad hoc role so time commitment varies depending on when events are happening. Friendly, cheerful and dynamic, this role requires someone who really enjoys engaging with the general public, meeting new people and has strong communication and interpersonal skills.
A great team player, this role would ideally suit someone who is enthusiastic, reliable and who is prepared to get stuck in.
The confidence to use your own initiative is essential as is the ability to follow instructions when necessary. We’ll provide you with full training, a buddy until you feel confident to run an information stand on your own and a toolkit for each event.
If you like meeting people in a social environment, have an understanding of dementia or working with vulnerable people (either through life experience, volunteering or work) and are free on weekdays we would love to hear from you.
Age UK Berkshire runs activities and groups for people living with dementia and their carers in Wokingham Borough.
These include singing cafes, general activity cafes and walks, run by our staff and volunteers. We are looking for more volunteers to support these activities which are held around Wokingham Borough (including Wokingham Town Centre, Grazeley, Earley, Shinfield, Woodley.) Volunteers would need to commit to a minimum of one session a month. Time commitment would be approximately three hours per session. Travel expenses are reimbursed.
