A FAITH bookshop in the borough marked Bookshop Day with sweet treats and book themed gateux.
Quench Christian Bookshop in Holme Grange Craft Village welcomed visitors to a party in the store on Saturday, with £5 book tokens and the chance to win a free mystery gift.
Book shops around the country celebrated National Bookshop Day at the weekend.
The event celebrates the contributions of all bookshops; independent stores as well as leading retailers, and aims to highlight the cultural importance of books and bookshops.
Ali Ceaser, Quench manager, said: “It was a fantastic day.
“There was a lovely atmosphere, and the shop was buzzing.
“Lots of people responded to our social media prompts to come along.
“There were so many cakes, and they all went.
“One was in the shape of a huge book, others were smaller individual cakes decorated to reflect books and reading.
“There are lots of reasons to celebrate our Christian bookshop, it’s more than just a bookstore.
“It’s a place where people can find a listening ear, as well as a good read.”
