A NEW wellness garden in the grounds of a Wokingham charity will provide a place of calm and sanctuary for its community.
Brought to life with support from Frasers Property UK, Winnersh Triangle Business Park, and Nurture Landscapes, the project has transformed an outdoor area at The Cowshed’s Wokingham premises into a serene haven for volunteers, staff, and clients.
With the backing of Wokingham Borough Council it will now serve as a much-needed sanctuary.
The Cowshed’s recent move to Wokingham allowed the organisation to expand its reach and continue its work to support people in crisis.
The charity loves its new location, which comes with many benefits, but says it lacked a crucial element—a peaceful outdoor space where the charity’s community could escape, breathe, and find solace in nature.
Recognizing the deep need for such a space, The Cowshed, which is the nominated park charity at Winnersh Triangle Business Park partnered with the park landscape team to turn this dream into reality.
Its new wellness garden is filled with plants, aromatic herbs, vegetables, and outdoor seating.
It is now a place where the charity’s 300 dedicated volunteers and staff, and many clients who regularly visit for appointments, can find a moment of calm amidst the challenges they face.
“We are so grateful to Frasers Property UK, Winnersh Triangle Business Park, and Nurture Landscapes for their incredible support in creating this wellness garden,” said Becky Russell, operations manager of The Cowshed.
“It’s more than just a garden – it offers our volunteers, staff, and clients a sanctuary where they can re-charge and focus on maintaining their mental wellbeing.
“We also extend our deepest thanks to Wokingham Borough Council for green lighting this project.”
Rebecca Fryer, regional manager of Nurture Landscapes, said: “We are proud to have contributed to the creation of this garden, which will benefit so many.
“The Cowshed does remarkable work, and we hope this garden will serve as a space of solace for all who use it.”
Helen Barnett, senior placemaking manager for Frasers Property, said: “The Cowshed is our nominated park charity at Winnersh, and it does such an amazing job supporting so many people.
“It was important to us to help them in return; on more than just a fundraising level.”
Vibright also played a key role in bringing the garden to life, generously donating £500 to support the project.
The Cowshed is excited to welcome volunteers, staff, and clients to enjoy their new wellness garden, and looks forward to maintaining and enhancing this special space in the years to come.
The charity is dedicated to providing support to individuals of all backgrounds during times of personal crisis, offering good quality, cleaned and ironed clothes, and other essential items, free of charge to those in need.
