READING West and Mid Berkshire MP Olivia Bailey has taken part in a National Highways visit amid concerns of dangerous slip roads.
It comes as Ms Bailey addressed safety concerns about the A34 slip roads around East Ilsley and Beedon raised by residents.
She conducted a survey which showed that the roads can be “intimidating”, even dangerous, even for experienced drivers.
After receiving over 450 responses to a survey calling for views on the slip roads, figures showed that 96% of residents responding agreed that the slip roads were dangerous.
Ms Bailey raised the issue with the Roads Minister in Parliament in February and also met with the National Highways Regional Director to discuss the survey’s findings.
She visited the roads concerned and was joined by representatives from National Highways, including the route manager in charge of the area in question.
Following the visit, Ms Bailey welcomed the news that National Highways would be making safety improvements in the short term.
They have also recommended a full safety review of the A34.
Ms Bailey has also committed to working with National Highways to make the case for further government work on the issue.

“I was grateful for the opportunity to illustrate first-hand the issues that are concerning my constituents, and discuss with the Route Manager how we can work together to address safety concerns.
“We had a constructive conversation, and I will be following up with the Department for Transport on the need for a full safety review and urgent investment to deliver both immediate improvements and more significant works as soon as possible.”
