Wokingham Borough Council has announced that tickets for the Community Lottery scheme will go live on Tuesday, June 3.
Tickets cost £1 per week with a top prize of £25,000. There is a minimum play for one month.
The first draw takes place on Saturday, June 28 and then it will be a weekly draw every Saturday evening. Match all six numbers and you win the jackpot, even if there’s more than one winner.
All good causes supported by the lottery will benefit Wokingham Borough and its residents. For every £1 lottery ticket bought, at least 50p will go to good causes, with the rest split between prizes and running costs.
When people play the lottery they can choose a good cause to support. They can choose to direct their payment to a good cause or the Wokingham Borough Community Central Fund.
Executive member for Resident Services, Inclusion and Fighting Poverty Cllr Rachel Bishop-Firth said: “The Community Lottery is a fantastic scheme which supports local good causes while offering players a chance to win money. There is also a chance to win some great prizes, some of which have been donated generously by local organisations. It’s a bit of fun and you can play responsibly, helping to generate much-needed funding for our communities along the way.”

Good causes signed up to the Wokingham Borough Community Lottery scheme include; Thames Valley Animal Welfare, Kaleidoscopic UK, ARC counselling and information, Support Horizons CIC, The Wokingham Volunteer Centre, Age UK Berkshire, Wokingham Theatre, Dingley’s Promise, Link Visiting Scheme, Building For The Future ‘Our House’, Twyford Bowling Club, 3rd Wokingham (Mayor’s Own) Scout Group, Wokingham Waterside Centre and Wokingham Borough Community Lottery Central Fund.
Cllr Bishop-Firth continued: “If you are a local good cause, there is still time to sign up to the Community Lottery scheme and raise money for your local projects. Get involved today and don’t miss out!”
Not-for-profit organisations such as a charity, community group, society or club, can apply to register as a good cause and raise money for their community projects on the Wokingham Borough Community Lottery website.
Gatherwell Ltd., which is licensed and regulated by the Gambling Commission, are managing the lottery and the website on behalf of the council.
