Stunning BMX bike riders doing somersaults in the air, cheerleaders and a climbing wall were just some of the new attractions at Hurst Show and Country Fayre.
The sizzling temperatures meant the popular dog show went online. Owners sent in photos of their dogs so their pets could stay in the cool of their homes.
Berkshire Search and Rescue’s dogs wisely stayed at home instead of staging their usual display. Their owners went along to talk about their work.
Vikki Randles from the show committee said: “It was another busy weekend with everyone taking sensible precautions in the weather.
“The show team is always looking to try new events and attractions to keep things different.
“The new attractions proved very popular. We had the Dinton Pastures’ climbing wall, mini golf, the BMX stunts and children’s soft play.
“New in the arena were competitive hobbyhorse jumping, children’s entertainment by Mr Marvel and magic shows by Magic Pike.”
There were old favourites like St Nicholas Primary School’s maypole dancers and singers, Hurst Morris People, the New Hurst Village Society’s archery and the music tent.
The Just Around the Corner’s charity brought along some animals, including donkeys, which could deal with the high temperatures. JAC provided shade and lots of water.
There were 44 classic vehicles on the Saturday and 33 on the Sunday. As ever the bar and barbecue were popular. To minimise queues, there was also a burger van on the school field this year.
Last year’s show raised over £25,000 for charities and good causes. The show committee will announce the total to be donated this year.
