Heathlands Road has finally reopened after delays caused by persistent wet weather, bringing relief to drivers and residents who have faced weeks of disruption.
Wokingham Borough Council confirmed that Heathlands Road reopened on Saturday, February 21, after conditions forced a setback to the original schedule. Heavy rain had made it difficult for crews to safely complete sections of the work, pushing the timeline back.
While the reopening is welcome news for motorists, the recent delay has had a knock-on effect on other planned works in the area — particularly at the busy junction with Easthampstead Road.
In a statement, the council said: “Please note that Openreach was intending to carry out work on Easthampstead Road until February 16, but this has now been delayed until mid-March to coincide with the reopening of Finchampstead Road, where the council will be upgrading the roundabout.”
The revised schedule means further changes to traffic management can be expected in the coming weeks as multiple projects are coordinated to minimise overall disruption.
Drivers are being advised to plan ahead and allow extra time for journeys while the additional works are completed.
