WATER bosses are seeing red over dangerous drivers ignoring temporary traffic lights.
They warn impatient motorists could injure pedestrians and cause lengthy jams.
Roads in Woosehill and Winnersh are among the hot spots where South East Water has installed temporary lights while carrying out construction work.
Now the company has launched a campaign against an increasing number of drivers spotted ignoring red lights.
Chris Love, Delivery Manager at South East Water, has asked the public to report motorists to the police.
“Sometimes, temporary traffic lights are put in place in order to safely guide road users around our construction area,” he said.
“While we recognise that the majority of motorists follow the correct Highway Code, we have seen a small number of drivers passing the temporary traffic lights while on red.
“This could potentially cause a road traffic collision or endanger pedestrians who may be crossing the road. When a red light is skipped, the entire network of traffic lights in the area resets – meaning they all go back to red.
“We would urge those motorists to think about their actions.”
