AN INTERACTIVE exhibition in Finchampstead will highlight the seriousness of domestic abuse.
The event, Stories of Survival: From Silence to Strength, is organised by Wokingham charity Kaleidoscopic UK in conjunction with Surrey University.
Through art, poetry, audio, video, and live performances, visitors to the exhibition will be able to experience how survivors want to be seen, heard, believed, understood and supported.
They will also be able to hear from Dr Emily Finch how research carried out at the University of Surrey is helping their cause.
Different spaces in the exhibition will enable visitors to see, hear, and reflect on the emotional, practical, and system-based challenges that survivors face, and how we can all play a part in offering meaningful support.
Organisers say it will be a safe and welcoming space shaped by survivors, ensuring their voices are heard on their own terms.
Quiet areas and trained trauma-support professionals will be available throughout.
By challenging assumptions, sparking new perspectives and inspiring action, the exhibition will encourage visitors to consider how we can all play a part in building stronger, more compassionate support for those affected by domestic abuse.
Visitors can listen, learn, and share their thoughts.
Event organisers say they will be able to leave with a deeper understanding of what it means to survive.
The event is free to attend and open to everyone, especially those in support services, community roles or anyone interested in how the justice system responds to complex human challenges.
The event, part of Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) Festival of Social Science, will take place at Finchampstead Baptist Centre on Saturday, October 18 from 11am until 2pm.
