SUPPORT from the Diocese of Oxford will help a Wokingham church make best use of its new building.
All Saints Church has recently completed work to create a flexible space designed to serve the community.
The venue is suitable for charities and group meetings, and capable of hosting concerts, conferences and exhibitions.
A grant from the diocesan Development Fund will help the church promote its new café and arts space by employing a community and volunteer empowerment officer.
Anne King, parochial church council member at Wokingham All Saints and SpaceForAll project leader said: “We wanted to use the church better for the community.
“We realised we had a resource in the form of our church building that would meet both the requirements of a flexible worship space and better relations with the community.
“Now the physical works have been completed, a co-ordinator will help to put this building to use.
“They will identify groups who could benefit, like the Link visiting scheme, who will be using the space for a drop-in session.”
Since the diocesan Development Fund was established in 2019, £3.6 million has been given to local churches, including £216,155 granted this month.
More than 11 parishes and 201 local church projects have received funds.
Now in its 14th round of awards, the organisation provides more than £1 million a year for communities across the Diocese of Oxford.
The deadline for applications for the next round of awards is the end of October.
