A new artificial cricket wicket is set to be installed in Finchampstead after plans were approved by Wokingham borough council.
Finchampstead cricket club had applied for permission to lay an artificial wicket on the edge of the cricket square on the Leas, part of Finchampstead memorial park.
The ground is owned by the Finchampstead sports club, and the cricket square is roped off in winter and used in summer.
In its application, the club noted; “The pitch would be the same colour as the surrounding grass, so would be indistinguishable from any sort of distance.
“The proposed build site is on the second pitch, behind the recreation ground.
“The new match pitch will be located on the western edge of their existing natural turf square, and the new wicket will allow both boys and girls who play for Finchampstead to play more cricket, and will give them an enhanced training facility.”
Council officials approved the plans on August 7.
