A GROUP of crafters has been yarn bombing the borough with their crocheted creations.
The Berkshire Hookers were spotted while on a mission to fill Wokingham and the surrounding villages with their clever, amusing, and thought-provoking pieces, with a special focus on Remembrance.
Gaynor White who leads the group, said: “The Barkham Hookers have always been proud to support the Royal British Legion at this time of year and have raised over £60,000 for the charity through the sale of our poppy brooches over the last 10 years.
“The post box toppers bring smiles to people’s faces as well as being a poignant reminder of the sacrifices so many have made.”
Posh poppies with vintage buttons, purple poppies for pets and bespoke military poppies with regimental buttons are all made by the group, with proceeds going to charity.
These brooches can be purchased from a pop-up Poppy Shop next to Boots in Wokingham town centre each Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 9am until 3pm, until Saturday 9th November.
