A CHARITY whose mission is to relieve poverty and enhance quality of life in the borough is looking for people to help steer its work.
Wokingham United Charities (WUC) seeks passionate individuals to join its Board of Trustees.
The opportunity is open to those already experienced trustees, as well as people willing to take first steps in a charitable governance role.
In particular, the charity hopes to hear from applicants with knowledge and skills in the following areas:
Legal: a qualified solicitor, preferably with experience in property, charity, or contract law.
Finance: someone with experience of financial strategy, investment, and accounts.
Social Housing: a person with experience of the social housing sector.
Marketing: someone with experience of increasing brand awareness and promotion.
Wokingham United Charities has been quietly providing essential support to some of the most disadvantaged in the community for centuries.
One of the town’s oldest charitable organisations, it can trace its beginnings back to 1451.
Everything it does is aimed at tackling poverty, whether this is providing affordable accommodation for older people in one of its 27 Wokingham flats, distributing grants to people experiencing hardship, or working with local charities to support people in need.
New trustees will help to drive the charity’s direction, but although these skills are helpful, the group says that it is more important that they find the right people to join the organisation.
Wokingham United Charities works to empower change, drive impact, and create a brighter future for those in hardship in Wokingham.
