Wokingham borough mayor, Cllr Carol Jewell, is lacing up her walking boots to raise money for her chosen charity, Building for the Future.
She is be walking the 55-miles of Wokingham Way, making her way around the outskirts of the borough.
Cllr Jewell kicked off the fundraiser on Friday, November 28, in Earley, covering the 12 miles to Aston. She continued the walk on Friday, December 5, when she walked the 11.5 mile stretch from Aston to Shurlock.
Cllr Jewell will pick the walk back up in the new year.
Building for the Future provides support for children and young people with disabilities. It is a parent-led charity offering activities, support and therapies in a welcoming and innovative environment.
Cllr Jewell said: “I’m aiming to raise over £1,000 for Building for the Future. This charity does incredible work and every donation will make a real difference to the children and families it supports. Please join me in helping this fantastic cause.”
Members of the community will be joining Cllr Jewell along the way, with local businesses offering their support.
