A LION bus driving into Wokingham caught fire this afternoon.
Fire crews were called to Shute End today to deal with a smoking engine.
Shute End has been closed between its junctions with Station Road and Broad Street as a result.
Police are expecting the road to be closed for much of this afternoon until the bus is recovered.
As a result, Reading Buses and Courtney Buses are currently unable to serve Broad Street.
Eye witnesses said that it looked like the bus engine had caught fire and that there was a strong smell of burning plastic in the air.
Police have said that no one was injured and eyewitnesses has said that no amubulances have been called to the scene.
Buses cannot currently serve Broad St, Wokingham. lion 4/X4 passengers wishing to travel towards Bracknell please board at Seaford Rd stop.
