READING FC are still searching for their first points on the road this season when they travel to Cambridge United on Monday night.
The Royals will be playing in front of the Sky Sports cameras for the first time this season at the Abbey Stadium.
Reading’s poor away form from last season has carried into the new campaign with their last win on the road in the league coming in November 2022.
The Royals were unfortunate not to pick up a point at Exeter City last weekend after they conceded in stoppage time in a 2-1 defeat, while their other away trip in the league came in a 1-0 loss at Port Vale.
The U’s have started their league camping with three wins and two defeats from their opening five matches.
They opened the season with a 2-0 win over Oxford United before winning 2-0 on their trip to Fleetwood.
A home loss to Steveange followed before they hit back with a 2-0 win at home to Bristol Rovers.
Mark Bonner’s team lost out last weekend 2-0 away to Leyton Orient which puts them in ninth position.
Reading made two signings from Cambridge in the summer on free transfers as both Sam Smith and Harvey Knibbs joined Ruben Selles’ side.
Meanwhile, former Reading captain Michael Morrison, who played three seasons with Reading, joined Cambridge last January.
Selles will be hoping to have centre back Tyler Bindon back available for selection after he missed the trip to Exeter and Tuesday night’s Carabao Cup game with Ipswich.
Smith is still unavailable for selection with a quad injury and therefore won’t be fit to face his former club, while Ovie Ejaria is also out of action.
It has been more than two decades since Reading last faced Cambridge. Their last meeting with in the League Cup in September 2002, a tie that Cambridge won 3-1.
The last league meeting was in March 2002 and ended in a 2-2 draw. Former Reading legend Dave Kitson was on the scoresheet for Cambridge that day, while Adrian Viveash scored for the Royals.
