Before handing over his mayoral duties, Cllr Adrian Mather welcomed 29 new residents to Wokingham borough at a citizenship ceremony last month.
Held at Wokingham town hall, Cllr Mather handed out gifts, while deputy lieutenant, Lt Col Sir Alexander Matheson presented the new residents with certificates.
Among the 29 new citizens were people from Australia, Brazil, India, Portugal and Ukraine.
During his year in office, Cllr Mather welcomed around 350 new residents to the borough.
Cllr Carol Jewell, will now be taking on this role after she was appointed as borough mayor at annual council last month.
The citizenship ceremony is the final step to becoming a British citizen, and formally welcomes a person into their local community.
Group ceremonies are held monthly and are free of charge, with each person bringing a guest.
