DO YOU ever wonder if the universe cares about you?
Has life been hard, leaving you feeling unloved and low in self-worth?
Are you tempted to think we’re all just strings of DNA buffeted by fate?
Or does the very existence of something as complex and beautiful as ‘love’ hint there might just be something more, and that compassion and mercy must come from somewhere deep – somewhere basic to the universe?
Across all cultures and ages of human history people have always believed in a God of some kind.
Atheism has never really caught hold, not even now.
Jewish and Christian traditions down the centuries have always named this force behind the universe.
It is not impersonal and uncaring, but wonderfully personal.
God is love.
Jesus spoke of God as his father, and encouraged his followers to do the same, to see God as a parent who knows us (a good one, appreciating that for many that’s not their experience).
He saw his own life as a mission of love from the creator of all things: ‘For God so loved the world’, he said, ‘that He sent His only Son.’
The message is this: though life can indeed be hard, the universe is not indifferent to you. You are precious and significant in this world.
God loves…you.
Please take that understanding into the rest of your day.
